“You look ridiculous if you dance
You look ridiculous if you don’t dance
So you might as well dance.”
– Gertrude Stein
In celebration of Gertrude Stein – poet, playwright and renegade – directors Yvonne Virsik and Cheyney Caddy teamed up with a colossal cast to bring Melbourne audiences their vision of Stein’s Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters and A Circular Play. Set against the Victorian splendour of Northcote Town Hall, Girls Do Gertrude! united over thirty of Australia’s most talented performers, musicians and designers who, over seven days and nights raced against the clock to create an all-female, all-fabulous spectacular.
Girls Do Gertrude! was a MIDSUMMA Premier Event.
